Like that review said, most gamers don't want simple "fetch and collect items" games anymore in favor of action and drama. In others words, a fast paced action game like Devil May Cry, God of War, etc. and story-driven games like the Metal Gear Solid series, the Final Fantasy series, the Silent Hill series, Half Life 2 and Bioshock.
EDIT:Added Half Life 2 and BioShock to please gamers who hate cutscene heavy games.
