lol sorry but please take number 5 off the list, Blu-Ray becoming cheaper is not an advantage..
VHS to DvD was a HUGE turn around, no brainier move to go DvD.
Blu-Ray to DvD is way less of a turn around.
With upscaling DvD players to say the least, and the $25.99 - $35.99 in store prices it defiantly lacks. (not talking sale items)
Not to mention some movies on Blu-Ray don't look HiDef, case in point the Fifth Element.
Yes that movie was one of the first Blu-Rays on the market, but thats no excuse to just put a DvD on a Blu-Ray and call it HiDef, I mean look at the Box it's like a photocopy cover of the DvD.
V For Vendetta was another disappointment for my Blu-Ray purchase, looks the same as DvD with out the upscale.
Some of the movies now that come onto Blu-ray don't even look like the FULL HiDef effort was forced upon it like it should.
I thought Blu-Ray was great because I wouldn't have to deal with Multiple Discs any longer, but that was short lived. Blu-rays come with 2 discs now, so much for space.
On my 61" 1080p Blu-Ray Doesn't look that much "O my Geez thats amazing" as it should, and I have 20/20 vision.
Blu-Ray will go away in a few years when something better comes along, and if you don't think something better will come along in a few years, well then you own a rotary phone and a butter mill.
Would also like to add that Blu-Ray is one of the most over hyped products in recent memory.
You must get 7.1 without noticing that there are very, very, few Blu-Rays that have 7.1, Not even Iron Man has 7.1.
The industry has not accepted 7.1 yet, the way it should.
In order to get the full advantages of 7.1 for starters you need to have speakers directly above you, and speakers directly behind you, and with majority of the people having their couches against the wall, well 7.1 just doesn't catch on.
7.1 should have been a mandatory thing for Blu-Ray as a second sales point, but it's almost last on their list.
