Call of duty 5 will be good, but it won't outsell gears 2.  At least not in the U.S.

 

Considering they seem to be counting all versions, I'd say CoD5 has a good chance.  CoD4 in America sold 3.684 million in 2007 between PS3 and 360.  That isn't even counting the PC version (and DS, but that really isn't a big factor).  This year I doubt it will be as big, but it will also have a Wii version.

In comparison Gears of War sold 3.45 million lifetime in the Americas.
