Article V stipulates that NATO members do not have to respond unless a fellow NATO country is attacked. This is why other NATO nations did not have to aid the UK during the Falklands War. The situation most likely to escalate into a World War is anything involving Israel and other West-Asian nations. I suppose the conflict over Kashmir could escalate, but I see that scenario as less likely.
