Can younger gamers truly appreciate today's graphics?

I think you have a point. When playing Super Mario Galaxy, my parents or my older sisters go "Wow! That looked so awesome, it's incredible how beatiful this game is".

Ignorance shouldn't be considered here. Your parents are only saying that because they haven't yet experienced graphics on other consoles. It's no different than saying how an immigrant from third world praised the wealth of $14K annual income... but most other people who lived in a first world country know better.

 

I remember being in awe about how great DVD looked once, let's just say that now with Blu-Ray, I haven't bought a single DVD for about 2 years now.

 

But I have the exact same ignorance, as I have not played a lot of the HD games either, and only on relatively small screens. We have pretty much the same background with playing games, except that my sisters' and parents' ones go further back.

 

I say... stick with Wii... don't try HD console on HD TV... or you'd never want to go back to it again. ;)

I mean, I'm okay with casual amount of Wii games, but if you tell me Wii is going to be my primary console after owning PS360. I don't think I can do it.
