I borrowed code geass from a friend, I'll watch it if I can confirm it doesn't have over the top violence/gore (i.e Akira, Evagelion style). I don't mind violence, I just hate it when characters get a minor cut and bloods spews everywhere.
Anyway, every should watch:
Full Metal Panic 1 and 2 (screw 3, I'm watching it now, it's average)
Full Metal Alchemist (just the anime, not the movie(s))
Genshiken
Samurai Champloo
Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
Death Note (it's alright, great beginning, crappy middle, dips heavily after a certain thing happens, but picks up at the end...)
