I don't know. A lot of times nostalgia can really skew our views on old games. I think this is especially true for PS1/N64 game.
It took me a long time to realize it, but Zelda:OoT is nowhere near as good a game as Wind Waker or Twilight Princess.
3D gaming of the 90's sucked. It really did, with the exception of a few simple games like Starfox. 2D gaming however, hit it's peak in the 90's. Platformers, and often RPGs, were better in two dimensions, in my opinion.
