Yea Steven, we do so well with the taxes we collect. Let's give more money to them and see what that does.
So you agree that the war in Iraq is a waste of money, that we should have been spending that money on schools and infrastructure.
Well, no. I think it was probably the biggest mistake a president has ever made in office to go into Iraq. It was against it then, and am against that choice now.

If we could just walk away today with little negative impact, I would say let's get out. But I don't think we are there yet. If being there means we keep hundreds of thousands of people from being ethnically cleansed due to our mistake, I say it's not a waste of money.

It's the cost of our mistakes, and paying out debt is never a bad thing.

Now as for taking the money and putting it into schools and infrastructure. I would say no to that as well. Don't collect it at all, and let the local governments collect it for those reasons.

So the reconstruction of the 35W bridge should have been paid for entirely by local money?

And I suppose you would also hold that up as an example of government inefficiency and waste?

We didn't need the money for the war for the bridge, we did both.

The federal government should pay for federal roads, like the interstate, but we already collect taxes to do those things. Spend less, and give back more so local governments can collect it and be more efficient with what they collect.

I am not against government collecting taxes, I just think the bigger the government is, the more corruption and wasteful it becomes.

Let local government collect for local things (like 95% of the roads, schools, etc), and keep the federal government small. Less corruption, and less waste.
