Nintendo will be the only 1 to drop their price and that is only if they increase production 2x - 3x.
Unfortunately nintendo arent quite aggresive enough to go and do something like that
Its not about aggression. How do you increase production by 2-3x?? And do it quickly?
In short - you can't. Think about all the components and elements required for the console. They need to increase the supply for *every single one* of those - and then find manufacturing/assembly capacity to put it together.
1mill units/month = shitload. It comes to about 30,000/day, or 1,500 every hour (and these factories DO run 24hrs a day!). 1,500 / hr = 25 consoles a minute. Now just stop and think about those numbers... 25 made EVERY minute, consistantly for month, upon month. Wow.
Now consider than the DS is currently producing 2-2.5mill / month (or 50-60 units / minute). Double wow. The same applies to the 360, PS3, IPod, etc. Manufacturing capacity these days is incredible.
...
Its not even about money. Nintendo has money to burn, and would LOVE to triple capacity - even for a significant outlay (as long as "per unit" cost doesn't increase too much). Im sure they would have LOVED to launch with 5mill units worldwide.
