guys.. patents are made all the time.. while this is an official sony patent, it by no means should allude you to the idea that it is the next controller... i mean.. (i can't find the links now, but) have you guys even seen the controller design for the wii before it was made? or the boomerang that sony even made a physical version of...
Just saying, the patent is only there to serve as a "just in case", now they won't have any problems IF they decide to go the route of a breakaway controller
