Ah, sorry, that's cruel.

The rise of brands coincided with the decline of local "mom & pop" shops. Whereas before you'd trust the owner of your local deli, butcher, etc. now you no longer have that option. Brand loyalty and trust rose to fill this need. It's not something you should let bother you, it's human nature. We *need* to believe and trust in something. I guess that leads to love, and fishing together.
