Sony might not want to admit it, but their console is at a critical juncture right now. The next four months will determine the fate of the PS3 console. They have to hit a certain level of sales. Not just in all markets combined, but each market distinctly.
Every title delayed, and every title cancelled is a loss of sales for Sony. When titles get packed together you lose the overall trend. Having one game each week stimulates sales better then three empty weeks, and one week with four games in it.
I am not liking the trend. Both Microsoft and Sony have seen some slips however those go unseen on the 360 for the most part. While on the PS3 they instantly get noticed. Even if they are rumors the fact that many see them as plausible is not a good thing. This is like a self fulfilling expectation, and it only reinforces the perception.
