FF13 is big, no question there. But it alone cannot save PS3 from it's fate.
Nor can it overpower the new juggernaut in Japan that is Monster Hunter which has tossed it's hat firmly behind the Wii.
Few will spend the money to buy a PS3 for FF13 alone and for Japanese consumers, as this article points out, that's just about all there is for them on PS3. Unless Sony follows MS and starts paying 3rd parties to make games but I think Sony is losing quite enough money on PS3 as it is. It'd be way better off getting 3rd parties to focus on making PS2 games (port to Wii) where they are guaranteed to make a profit without Sony's financial aid.
