FishyJoe said: I'll say it again, Sony can't win a price war. Sony has less margin to work with than MS or Nintendo.
Uh, no....they have more margin to work with than the others because their console is more expensive. Even the PS2 components still cost around 120 dollars or so. You can only cut so much out even if its old tech. To expect the Wii to get to less than say 100 is pure nonsense. Meaning they can only cut 150 dollars from the price. Consoles that are more expensive in price at launch can always come down MORE than those at a lower price at launch. Where were you last gen? GC 200 to 100. Xbox 300 to 130 (or was it 100?) PS2 300 to 130. PS3 and 360 actually have MORE MARGIN to work with than Wii. Your statement is false. And price wars typically only have one stage in consoles, the first person to lower causes the others to lower and then subsequent price drops occur according to schedule. Once again, was there a price war last time? Not really, PS2 dropped, then Xbox did, then GC then price drops occurred on a scheduled basis afterword. Just cause PS2 was out longer and could have lowered to say 150 instead of 200, it didn't make sense to.
