The original Legend of Zelda is what established the franchise, even if Link to the Past was the third game in the series. It was the definitive title in the series (and arguably still is), and was the best-selling entry until Ocarina of Time cam out. Hell, I think it's still the second-best-selling over two decades later.

Not to say that Link to the Past wasn't important, because it was, but the original deserves all possible props here.
