No I've heard of it. I enjoyed the series overall, but I also had a few problems with it. The plot ended up being kind of skimmed over for the purpose of character development and the love story. I think it's important to balance out both character development and plot, and E7 didn't do a very good job of that. It was still good, and if I had to pick one over the other I'd rather have too much character development and too little plot than too much plot and too little character development (Zeta Gundam). I like a little romance in my animes so that wasn't a problem for me, but I can see it pushing some others away. Anyway, it was a good anime, just not one of my favorites.
I'm going to highlight this in black so that you don't see the spoilers VEGA. ssj12 you can just highlight it with your mouse to read it. On Seed Destiny: It started out great. Shinn had a lot of potential as a main character with his troubled past and all, but it was downhill from there. As soon as Athrun and Kira regain important roles Shinn drops to a C class character. He suddenly doesn't matter at all, and is reduced to a villain with zero remaining character development after episode 20 or so. And then there is Athrun, who acts like an idiot the entire show, and in the end of it is just as confused as he was at the end of Seed, with no new realizations about the purpose of his actions at all. Kira has no character struggle at all, and starts the series and ends with the same damn "peaceful" state he was at during the beginning of Destiny. No character conflict at all = complete suckage as a main character. Yzak and Dearka, 2 important characters from Seed, just completely disappear from the spotlight, making a couple worthless cameos. Mu survives an unbelievably devastating explosion which vaporized the Gundam, which was dumb. There were hundreds of flashbacks including those back to the original Seed. All of them were worthless. They completely fucked up the relationship between Athrun and Cagali, and instead paired Athryn with Maryn, who barely qualifies as a side character and has no personality. Overall: It was complete shit, and one of the worst Gundam series ever.
The only thing that was good in the series was the animation and the battles. That's just my opinion.
