So far, Nintendo has bested the Game Gear, the Lynx, the Neo-Geo Pocket, the Wonder Swan/WS Color, and the PSP.
Only the last of these, the PSP, was thought to have a chance to dethrone Nintendo. Almost all of them had "more technologically advanced" units than what Nintendo was offering at the time.
However, the 3Ps -- portability, power, and price -- are why Nintendo has continued to dominate. That is unlikely to change in the near term.
