Don't focus so much on "National" polls, but more so the state polling because of the Electoral College.

This site is great to see how the polling stats break down and is operated by a very smart young man, Nate silver.

He doesn't do polling himself, but he has worked out the statistics of the election and has been on many news programs in the US talking about the race and how this numbers show it coming out.

 

Looking at this, it's very likely, especially this close to the election that Obama will pull out the victory, and rather convincingly.

And I'm happy that it's not McCain that will win. We cannot have him run this country and get us out of this economic crisis, which the world is counting on us bouncing back... If the US goes into a depression, so will most of the world.

Yes, I agree with the bolded part but what will stop the world from switching to a Euro intl trading standard? I am for everyone to have their own choices but make this out of wisdom and not popularity or race, I beg you. A supermajority with an Obama led executive branch will bring about change that even some Dems do not want and a majority of the center right nation doesn't want either--nationalization of more and more organizations, the ceasing union secret ballot, etc. I even see a one world currency to come out of this--whether you are a Christian or not, this is a radical depature from intl banking. I agree with you on this--whomever wins--they will have a lot of shit to clean up...

 

The thing that people seem to forget is that even if the dems get 60, that does not mean the entire agendo goes through 100%. There are such things as moderate democrats. People just like to work out world end scenarios because people read it. Plus, how often does a plan go through that everyone agress on? Stuff goes through that people don't like all the time.

 

The one world currency, that is a real stretch atm. Who is going to vote this in? And what else is going to be nationalized? Child healthcare already si for alot of americans, and the only thing Obama's plan does is make sure every child has a plan. Not every child has his plan. The nationalization of banks (which is not a true nationalization) was not started by Obama, and they have shown no indication that a true nationalization will occur, just heavy regulation, which is needed as we have seen the problem of lack thereof.

On the article, I saw one thing that I don't like alot (in the grey box), the union card check, but the rest of them are fine. Whats wrong with representaion of DC? I mean, it has a pop that equals some states. Is it really fair that they have no rep or senators looking out for their interests? I guess they give up that right when they move or are born in there? Whats wrong with renegotiating mortgage in bankrupcy. People with more than one home already egt to use this right, why not let people who have only one do it as well? These stances listed just go to show that the republican party is out of touch with mainstream america.

 

On to the substance of the article, this is just conjecture. The author has no prof, does not provide any quotes or evidence except what they feel. They go to the extreme on every issue.

Anyways, you say that America is center right. I think Bush help defeat that notion. I think America is now dead center or a bit center left. And even if they are center right, the items in the grey box are not far left ideas, and as I said earlier, the meat of the article is unbased conjecture about what is going to happen. The republican party has drifted far right in most of its idealogy (except spending, which makes no sense) and this is one reason that they were rejected in '06 and will be this election. If they are center right, that does not make them accept far right over center left ideals, they are more inclined ot go for the center left (since they are closer to center) Frankly, they have no identity anymore and the party is imploding. People see this, and are not going to support it.

So its a double whammy for the party. People see Bush as the republican party, the nominees have shown little difference, the far right ideology is now mainstream in the party (look at bachmann, palin etc), the fiscal repsonsibility is gone, and the current nominations have shown no ideas, only the ability to make attacks. People don't want attacks, they want answers. And, if you look, most americans think Obama's ideas are pretty good.

 

The moderates jumping ship on McCain right now should not be seen as traitors, but as people screaming for the party to find itself again. For if they do not, then the party will be irrelevent for a long, long time.
