Yea I got my beta code yesterday, so I figured I would give it a try...after waiting an eternity for it to download, I finally booted the thing up.

So i started with the 8 man co-op and I must say it is probably one of the funnest most unique gaming experiences I have ever had. I play as a level 5 special ops (just like the_vagabond) and the scenario he described above explains the frantic awesomeness that is co-op to a 'T'.

I thought it would be kinda hard at first for 8 random people to be thrown into a co-op session together and be expected to work in an efficient manner-boy was I wrong.  I have yet to enter a match with a completely disfunctional team, I don't know if its the way Insomniac developed the class system or what but everyone seems to know what there role is in the fight. Medics heal, the warrior people put up shields and provide cover, while the special ops supply ammo.

Sure you'll die...alot, but the battles are so frantic and fun that it didn't really bother me to much. The only grip I could find with the co-op would have to be some of the boss fights. At the very end of the Orick mission you have to fight two huge chimeria at teh top of these buildings and they have WAY to much health. Serioulsy it takes like ten minutes of constant shooting from 8 players to kill em. Rather than increase the health to insane levels I think Insomniac should have just made the boss creatrues more powerful physically or something. However this small grip doesn't seriously affect the experience and so I would prbly give the co-op aspect for this game a 9.7 out of 10 or something.

The competive is fun, and the battles are huge but it really is the same old same old that every other online fps has. Competitive online multiplayer was never really my cup of tea to begin with, that being said however the competitive multiplayer in R2 ranks right up there with halo and COD4. I would prbly give it a 8.9 or something because it isn't really as revolutionary as i thought it would be.

So yea I would have to say that R2 is now a must buy for me, for all of you other peeps who made it into the beta my psn id is Lone_Shadow so add me if you want and maybe we can play a game or two of co-op together.
