Like Zucas said, too many stores make bucks off of Entertainment Blu-ray players, DVDs, Blu-Ray discs and the like.

It's the same reason why Gaming would never be the same way. Retailers would be out of business. I believe in a hundred years or so, this would be the most convenient, and especially when Fiber-optics are available everywhere, but in a place where some people are still (and can only) use dial-up, this is a definite no-go.

It's the same argument again and again, and people just don't want to see the light. Once Download speeds are vastly improved, Download caps go away (they're just starting), and retailers find a way to make money off of this, it won't happen. Think about how many movies or games are on DD but not on DVD? Not many, but then think about how many movies or games are on DVD but not DD? Too many to count. That's how it'll always be.
