1. The producers are full of shit. For example, at one point Miyamoto claimed that the series went: OoT, Zelda, Zelda 2, and then the Adventure of Link. So we chose to ignore that he said that and believe one random statement by another Ninendo producer? How did we decide one was right and another was wrong?

2. If you believe the split timeline, then Majora's Mask immediately follows Ocarina of Time in the split timeline. The timeline Link left This then leads to Twilight Princess. Obviously this creates more issues than just the clothes. For example: Hyrule shouldn't have known that Link in Majora's Mask had ever saved the kingdom.

3. I'm sure you beat Ocarina of Time. Link left with the Master Sword when he was transported away.

4. Link DID kill Ganon at the end of Twilight Princess. There no "Maybe" this time. In Twilight Princess Ganon was impaled, and when he looked to the Triforce of Power to save him it disappeared, leaving him dead. The only way this really fits on a timeline is if it's after Wind Waker, which contradicts an earlier statement that it's between OoT and Wind Waker. In fact, these timeline theories really just go all to hell. There are so few connections between the game that people really just need to learn to accept each game for what it is and nothing else.

There are so many holes it just frustrates me to no end. There IS NO TIMELINE. If there was, it would be so badly concieved I would lose all respect for Nintendo's writers. There are some games directly connected to each other. That is a fact, but the entire series is in no way connected.

First of all the multiple timelines theory was not some random statement at all, it has been confirmed several times and just lately by Eiji Aonuma. Second, who ever said the ppl of Termina ever knew anything about Link saving Hyrule. Third, just because Ganon was killed does not mean he will never come back, thats just how it is. There is a timeline, it is very obvious that TP comes directly after Oot (MM too). Also you have to include A Link to the Past in the games which apply to the storyline.

On a separate note, if any of you have gone onto hardcore Zelda fansites they have the timeline figured out the best they can. I personally believe the Wise Men, and although I cannot remember it exactly it is something like this (their timeline is not Split)

Oot>MM>TP>WW>PH>Link'sAwakening>ALttP>TLoZ>ZeldaII

I'm sorry if I'm wrong but that's what I think it is and what I personally believe

The first two Zelda games are able to be put into the timeline b/c they do not have the master sword (which sleeps after ALttP) and Ganon has mutated into a Pig in those games. That is how we know where they are..

(I personaly do not believe Minish Cap, the oracles, or the 4 swords games fit into the timeline b/c they were made by Capcom and not Nintendo even though they were great Zelda games.)

Also, the stroy in TP was great, I loved it mucho!

By the way this is my first post!!!!

I think the "hardcore Zelda sites" are a huge joke. There are dozens of completely contradicting statements on the subject. Just a few of the ridiculous ones:

Aonuma: Wind Waker is 100 years after Ocarina of Time. So in 100 years all of Ocarina of Time became legend, Zora's went through an entire evolution into Ruto, and the majority of the population forgot Hyrule even existed. Aonuma is obviously flawless!

Miyamoto: Twilight Princess occurs after Ocarina of Time and before Wind Waker. Oh now this is really where it gets funny. First of all, if everything Aonuma says is true, this occured in between those 100 years. Oh but wait, it gets better: At the end of OoT there are only 2 possible scenarios that could lead to TP. The first is the adult timeline where Link no longer exists (neither does the Master Sword, OR his clothes). Yet Link gets the "hero's clothes" the Master Sword is found during TP. Well then it must have been the child timeline right? Well then why the hell were the clothes adult sized? Oh, and the world STILL hasn't flooded. Meaning sometime in the next, what? 25 years? The world needs to flood, people need to forget it ever happened, and everything Link has done needs to become legend. Oh, and Link finds the Sword in Hyrule Castle, but in the end of TP Link returned the sword to the Temple of Time. It could have been moved from there, but by who? According to the legend when Ganon returned Link did not come to stop him the next time... so the Master Sword wouldn't have been pulled from it's resting place.

Aonuma: Confirms multiple timelines. I just proved that multiple timelines are in fact impossible with the existence of Twilight Princess.

Miyamoto: The plot goes OoT, Zelda, Zelda 2, A Link to the Past. Yet almost no timelines have these in this order.

Aonuma: "The next grand Zelda game, which follows chronologically after the Wind Waker, will be released at the end of 2005 in Japan." This was refering to the project being made on the Gamecube, oh, but wait, that was confirmed to be between Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker... oops!

So obviously the developers would never make a mistake or never say anything incorrect right? Conclusion: All signs point to timeline theories being completely ridiculous. The producers and developers have made many false statements about the games, so there is really no reason to believe a timeline exists that encompases the series simply because it was mentioned in passing. IF they are trying to make a plotline to encompass the entire series, they are doing such a horrible job that I will lose much of the respect I have for Mr. Aonuma and Mr. Miyamoto. Personally, I would rather look at a few Zelda games as being connected and others as being seperate experiences, thus retaining my respect for the brilliance of these men while enjoying their incredible games. You can believe whatever you want, but the facts say all Zelda games do NOT fit on a single timeline by any stretch of the imagination.

Edit: Welcome!

I personally do not get too hung up on the exact years but after reading Wipeout's post I really agree with him.

The hardcore Zelda sites are NOT just a huge joke at all really, but yes there are possibly millions of contradicting statements about the timeline. I'm not saying they never make a mistake, but I am saying that there is at least a rough timeline within the franchise. I don't think by any stretch of the imagination that they are doing a horrible job at all, they aren't. THeir main goal isn't to make a storyline within the series it is obviously to make one within the individual games. The timeline theories come into play because of the slight nods toward other games, forming the facts which are used to determine its location in the timeline.

About the hero's clothes. Do not be so up tight about the size of it, Oot had a large emphasis on age but TP obviously only does in the artistic aspect. If you think really deeply into it, the clothes shouldn't even be in hyrule they should be in termina but that concession has to be made because the game was made to be in hyrule and some things should just be understood as artistic changes by the developers in order to make the game what they wanted it to be.
