@coolestguyever

we get ripped off.....:(

YOU get ripped off?

Visit me in my country :)

The difference is that the UK is probably the 3rd largest single market (behind the US and Japan) and yet we have to pay such a premium, when there is not the excuse of it being a small market

 In terms of hardware, the UK is easily the second largest nowadays.

So it is.... I had thought that JP was still bigger

In terms of weekly sales at the moment maybe, but Japan is still a more important market... total home console sales so far this gen, Japan has exceeded 10 million (not including additional PS2 sales) The UK is 2 - 2.5 million behind.

Including handhelds however makes it a totally different matter, the UK can't compare to the immense handheld sales in Japan. even including population into the equation, Japan buys more DSs and PSPs per person than the UK.

Japan: 1 DS for every 5.3 people - 1:5.3... in the UK you would on average have to go through 8.2 people to find someone with a DS.

Japan console UK
5.3 DS 8.2
12.1 PSP 21.0
18.4 Wii 16.0
52.9 PS3 40.7
169.3 X360 24.4

PSP is a bigger difference, being considerably more popular in Japan going by per person. Wii and PS3 are similar between the two countries, although UK has the edge per person (but not in total numbers) X360 is the obvious big difference though, and the only console that has sold more in the UK LTD than in Japan.
