Someone asked if I'd ever do em......And I am!

Anyways, the only reason I do the X360s is because I enjoy them and it helps me to understand the nature of drops, sales, multipliers, and various extraploations of systems.

I'm not going to be doing PS2/PSP charts: It's the reason I didn't start with Sony charts, as it'd be too much work with the too little time I have.

Anyways: America.

Okay, a few notes from someone that doesn't look *too* hard at PS3 numbers:

As expected, EA Sports titles dropped pretty handily this week. Expect them to continue dropping off the charts, as NCAA Football has a typical track record of 3.0 multipliers. However, with the price drop, sales should continue to hold at some point. Likewise, Nascar 08 will continue dropping.

More importantly, #2 R:FoM is continuing to show killer-app legs. Thus far, it's selling similarly to Gears of War. Expect it to continue on the top 10 for quite some time, and still major sales.

Likewise, NGS, had a great 6% drop: I believe that although software sales increases were tepid right after the price drop (15% increase), the longer the season gets, the more these new PS3 owners will begin to adopt new software titles like Resistance, NGS, RSV, Motorstorm and Oblivion along with new titles.

Rainbow Six Vegas has a good increase: this is most likely due to new PS3 addopters finally wanting to pick up a strong multiplayer title, ala R;FOM.

Outside of this, strong drops for the mid level multi-port titles. Darkness, Transformers, and such had strong drops. Expect them to be weaned out of the top 10 very shortly.

This week, as expected, we saw a decent drop in software sales due to diminished hardware sales (and with it, fewer units to attach software to). #1 and #2 saw large, but expected drops. The big question is if they can manage sub-50% drops from now on. Hopefully, EBG5 will continue to sell well.

Outside of this, there really isn't much to comment about: only Rainbow Six and CoD3 managed sub-20% drops. RSV continues to do real well, and should wind up with very respectible numbers for a console shooter in Japan.

The big questions are: with no new software for a few few weeks (Bladestorm at 8/30), can the PS3 software (outside of EBG5 and WM) manage sub-15% drops? If so, sales could continue to do well for the next weeks. Also, how much lower will hardware go? Will we see sub-15k numbers, or will it manage a bit more?

Hopefully you enjoy one of my few contributions to the Sony forums :)

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
