Regarding Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf "heritage"...
"Link" is almost always a different person, with no relation to past Links. The series has, at minimum, 8 different characters "named" Link. Often has a family member present in the game (or mentioned).
Zelda is always a princess, and thus always some relative of past and future Zeldas.
Ganondorf is... the same person. His exposure to the Triforce (and various other occultish items... and several deaths) have granted him relative immortality.
