Crap on a stick the NDP got a seat in Alberta! and it was at the expence of Rahim Jaffer!

I didn't even think to check Alberta as I figured it would be all Conservatives. Damn. Go us.

There are several ridings in Edmonton that are full of provincial government (union) employees that tend-to vote for the NDP in federal elections.

Liberal's look right to me.  But then again this has always confused me.  Liberal in itself suggests left, but I've always viewed them as center-right, with the Conservatives as simply right.

I find it very difficult to to take their positioning seriously ...

The Conservatives are the only Federalist party in Canada who doesn't want to increase the presence of the Federal Government in your life (National indoctrination/child-care program), to reduce the dictatorial control the Prime Minister has by creating a Democratically elected senate, and to return (usurped) power back to the provinces. In what way is this an "Authoritian" approach to government? In what way are the NDP a "Liberian" party?

There is also discussion about Social Conservative values and yet the only Social conservative value the Conservatives have is some (bizzare) belief that the most serious (typically violent and sexual) repeat offenders should actually receive moderately long prison sentences. What are their Socially Conservative values?

The entire spectrum seems to be set based on what someone thinks party policy is rather than what party policy is ...
