I've been lucky enough to never have the RROD problem. However i've had to replace my PS2 after years of it crapping out on me. There was no warranty for me to replace it under so I spent $150 on a new one. I don't bitch though. Why? It's a good console with fantastic games, and so is the 360. Why do people sled down snowy hills when they know each time they're going to have a grueling climb back up? It's because those few moments of joy outweigh the annoyance it takes to make it happen. I have to blow into my N64 everytime I want to play a game. Sometimes it needs to be wiggled around in there. It's not a fun process. When I finally get it working though it was all worth it. I wouldn't let something like a hardware failure, especially one that gets fixed for free, stop you from enjoying something you would love othewise.
