There was always a slight delay with the cursor. After I threw something and focused my IR back in the sensor's sights, it would take a second or two (or more) to find where I was pointing.

I meant to tell you, a few months back I saw a lot of people on GameFAQs were experiencing that same problem. Bunch of other weird cursor issues as well. Seems almost random. I'd chalk it up to EA's policy of ensuring every game they release has odd unexaplainable glitches in it. =P

Doesn't this happen in a lot of Wii games though. I've had the cursor jump in Mario Galaxy also when I move it too fast. It even jumps on the Wii's menu screens. Isn't this just a problem with the controller itself, and supposed to be one of the benefits of Wii Motion+?

Not sure why M+ would have any effect on the cursor when it's the result of the IR Camera at the end of the remote looking for the LED's on the sensor bar. If your cursor is jumping consistently that probably means there's something in your room the camera occasionally mistakes for the sensor bar, or something occasionally breaks the remote's line of sight. Only game I played were I experienced random cursor jumps was Red Steel.

Smeags particular problem was there was some sort of delay after the throwing motions where the cursor wouldn't reappear quickly that made it impossible to finish certain timed challenges. Reading people's posts on GameFAQs, seems like there were other people with the same, and other odd issues, but I don't think anyone every figured what if anything caused it, and most people never experienced anything like that.
