Some thoughts.
First of all, it is tough to list unreleased games as being overhyped. We generally don't know if they deserve the hype until they are released. However, two games of this sort do deserve to be on the list: Brutal Legend and Ghostbusters.
Both made the cover of Game Informer and the latter was even featured in Nintendo Power. Both were then dropped by Activision-Blizzard and do not have publishers announced -- it is assumed but it is not definite that those games will ever be released.
Brutal Legend is being made by Tim Schafer,whose games have at best niche commercial appeal. Ghostbusters does not resonate with anyone under age 30 (or 35).
