Square has made a few games that weren't JRPGs, fighters, shooters (planes) and racers. And guess what, they didn't sell very well. S-E are money whores atm, so they're going where the money is. JRPGs for them.
I agree that ever since the merge, they've changed. But I don't hate them for it. They're a company, sometimes money is more important than the respect you get at the end of the day. As long as I keep getting my good share of games, I'm not going to complain. But I do find it odd how its taking them forever to release a game on the consoles this gen. Until Last Remnants come out, they're still pretty much empty.
