Actually I know a lot of older adults and such that own HD tvs, in fact most of the people I know with HDtv are those older demographics who have the extra cash to blow. They have absolutely no interest in buying an HD videogame system. A lot of them have kids that are older and no longer living at home so there's no way the 360 or PS3 is gonna get in there (though funnily enough they expressed interest in the wii).

Strangely enough, a lot of them don't care that much about HD movies either. They'll prolly get one when it becomes mass market maybe but by then, the price advantage for PS3 bluray vs standalone will probably be heavily in favor of standalone.

I think the statistics for HD penetration and their effect on HD console adoption may be overstated. I think a good portion of HDtv households don't care all that much about HD consoles and gaming in general.
