Mario Tennis (Virtual Boy). I disliked Tennis games in general and when I bought the system, I got Teleroboxer on the side. But after I got tired of Teleroboxer, I tried out Mario Tennis and found it to be the most fun Tennis game I had ever played.
Mystic Heroes (Nintendo Gamecube). I will never forget going into the store and my brother begging me to pick the game up even though neither of us had even heard of it before. I was thinking the game would absolutely blow donkey sack but it turned out to be in my top three games of last generation.
Half-Life (PC). Getting a good PC was out of my range as a child so I had to wait until years later to play the game. I figured it would not hold my interest trying to compete with the current games of that time, but surprisingly, it more than held its own and became a top single player experience for me.
