No not influential in regards to the Wii, the DS was a test bed for the Wii theory(if it flopped nintendo said, they would have been in deep shit), but nintendo have filed a patent for a tilt sensitive handheld, so it definintly influenced that. =D

Wario GBA came out before the DS so it may have had a major infuence on it aswell. I think Wario shows the turnign point in Nintendo's strategy from hardore to casual. Since this strategy seems to be working I think this is why it has to be comsidered as the most infuential game ever.

I know tis may be blasphemous but I think Wario may now be more inportant than Mario in this repsect.

I agree that Wario may be the early roots of the DS and Wii, but I disagree with the part I bolded. I think their strategy is to include the casuals not to exclude the "hardcore" (whatever that means).

Personally I think Wario and Mario are both important. Using your logic: It took Wario to get the Wii I can go back even further and say it took Mario to get to Wario and thus it took Mario to get to the Wii. These lines of thinking are completely transative and you can go back a long long ways and probably find some way to say that without Jesus there would be no Wii.
