It's because of MS's stated goals in the industry. Their goal is to take out their biggest competitor so they can monopolize the industry. If their goal was to be a big part of the industry, they aren't doing too badly. If they want to be in a position where they can fix prices like they do with OS and Office products, they have a long way to go.  Even if they are beating Sony, Nintendo is taking alot of share that they would rather have.  The "Wii60" comment that some fanboys use for justification was made when Peter Moore severly under-estimated the Wii's dominance.

Really can you show me were MS stated there goal in the industry is to take over and monopolize the industry? MS is trying to be the most dominant console as is both the WII and the PS3 thats what companies do!

Dean Takahashi's Xbox 360 Uncloacked has the whole story.  The living room was the next big gold mine, and that's why they created the gaming division.  They wanted to beat out Sony and eventually buy out Nintendo.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.
