I don't think that the wii will be able to beat the PS3 in the long run. The PS3 if lucky will have just enough developers to show the casual fans that the motion sensing controls on the PS3 are better and that the pointer is useless.
Wii has ~729mhz IBM Power 3 RISC CPU, x-box is ~733 Mhz intel pentium 3 CPU so cycle for cycle the Wii is twice the speed of the x-boxl.
Wii has 88 Mb memory, x-box has 64 Mb, about a third more.
Wii has 243 Mhz ATI GPU, x-box has 233 Mhz NVIDIA GPU , but Wii has more effects than etc on chip that developers will have to uncover.
