To restore goodwill they need to get systems back to customers very quickly and ensure that people won't have overheating problems.  If they get this problem fixed this year it's likely in a year or so it wouldn't be a big issue for potential customers.

I think it would be a great idea for them to leave the console war, the ps1 only went of against the SNES and the games were huge. If it wasnt for microsoft we would be seeing sales like this

The PS1 was going against the SNES? I know this was before your time, but you should brush up on your videogame history a little bit. The PS1 had to compete against the N64 and the Saturn. The SNES was competing against the Genesis and TurboGrafx16.
