Resistance 2 online co-op different story from single player mode?

Is the 8 player online co-op mode different from the single player campaign? Because on this video he says on 2.25

"8 player online co-op which has its own story"

i didnt suspect this but if it has 8 players i guess that the normal story woud pass to quickly.
