Ok. So the quoted part says that publishers need to realize that Wii gamers are too savy to buy all the crappy games the publishers release for the Wii. And then he says consumers and journalists need to step up and let publishers know they don't want crappy games. Which is already solved by his first statement that the consumers arn't going to buy the games. The guy does seem to write in circles, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with his statement here.
The second bold part, that Nintendo needs to step up. Well, Nintendo already is with it's big games coming out. From what is avaliable to us, these games look extremely good. And Zelda already was released, and is an exceptional game in my opinion, and in the opinion of reviews and consumers.
As for asking for Nintendo to regulate the quaility of the games. I still don't understand why lessons from the past all of a sudden don't apply. 'Regulating' games is what hurt Nintendo and Playstations 3rd party friendliness is what boosted PS. And in having strong 'unregulated' 3rd party support, the power is given to the consumers to show the publishers what games they want. Personally, I still don't see the negative with Nintendo's growing 3rd party support. The author of the article is just wrong in saying Nintendo needs to 'regulate' it's 3rd party games.
