Rubbish. It has nothing to do with the resulotion. You're friend porbably got a cheap 1080p tv, but the dynamic contrast probably sucks as. I have a decent 1080p a sharp model i think and it looks really great, while my father has a sony 46" bravia x3500. I can clearly tell them appart ,my looks like bleach shit compared to my dads. Though its not noticable unless you put them side to side.
