EQ really is a great game still but at this point if you are trying to start playing from scratch you are so so far behind in EQ that it is a daunting task just to catch up to casual players. I doubt I will play EQ again, but it really was for me the first and the best.
WoW was pretty lackluster in my view, but I know a lot of people like it. I was just never really able to get into the game, in large part due to the nuisances that plagued the games early days, but also because it felt like just another MMO to me.
Honestly, I will probably do my best to avoid MMOs just for the simple reason that they eat way way too much time.
