in all honesty, it terms of QUALITY, nothing beats world of warcraft. there is a reason they are #1 in the world and it isn't just the blizzard name.
however
everquest
everquest2
world of warcraft
and most other mainstream subscription mmos have a 10 or 30 day free trial, just look for them and try them out.
just try them out yourself and see what you like
imo for a new player
wow>eq2>eq in terms of easing you into the game
guildwars is decent too
