The demo of the game I thought was very well done for a demo. I think it will give you a good impression on whether or not you like the game. It's what convinced me to buy the game and only a few games that I've been on the fence about had demos that did that.
I bought it and finished it on the 360 and enjoyed it quite a bit. The music & art style was very well done and the story even though it was very quirky towards the end held me through. I also enjoyed the battle & encounter system also.
I'm going through the encore play through right now and the game flaws are starting to bother me a bit more. The dungeon layouts are downright bad and it makes some of the areas really annoying to follow through. I've been using a guide for some of the achievements but if you don't like using a guide to get through a game I can see it being very frustrating for some. After this completion I'll probably resell the game because with all the qualities in the game I don't see myself ever going back and playing it again. Anyway it's a worthy pickup I think for most JRPG fans but I would suggest trying the demo beforehand before dropping full price on the game.
