Seeing the first sentence in the article I'm not inclined to believe what they are saying as they seem to know very little about what happens to the industry.
Vivendi didn't go under. Vivendi is now the majority stock holder of Activision-Blizzard....
Vivendi was the owner of Blizzard and Sierra mostly , what they did is merge their gaming acitivities with Activision, make Activision CEO the one in charge of the new combined entity but at the same time they became the majority stock holder of the new entity ( 54% I believe). Then the new Activision-Blizzard company decided to close some of the studios ( mostly those related to Sierra) after the merge as their existence didn't make so much sense anymore in the new context of the company) and forego some previous publishing deals the previous Vivendi games had as they didn't make sense anymore..
But Vivendi never went under, they became the owner of the biigest game developer... So much for informed journalism..
And for the record Gaming isn't even Vivendi's main activities. Gaming revenue represents less than 20% of its total revenue.. |
i m not sure about Vivendi or activision-blizzard deal but i thought OPM is mostly accurate about their rumours... but definitely it is still a rumour but maybe with a little more weight
