I dont see Sony reducing the cost by a $100 or even $50 before Christmas unless it is deemed to be mission critical which i dont think it the case. 3rd parties are onboard and thats not goign to change, so what if they lose ground to the 360 over christmas. They are still going to sell a considerable number of units at much healthier margins, why would they want to go back into making a loss on each unit again.
Dropping price immediately would seem like desperation. Doing it in 2009 is when it will happen maybe around a big release.
