Critic-wise? I dunno. They seem to have equal chances to me. Both universes are interesting (SO universe doesn't need to be explained, DS-seems gothic, cold, and dark... that that strikes a string of interest with me). Both seem to be good looking from screenshots... it's too early to say anything now, but I don't think the games will end up far apart when it comes to scores. |
To be fair, however, From Software really isn't the bastion of great JRPGs as far as I can remember:
| From Software | Tri-Ace |
| Enchanted Arms | Star Ocean Series |
| Kings Field | Valkyrie Profile Series |
| Forever Kingdom | Radiata Stories |
| Eternal Ring | Infinite Undiscovery |
| Evergrace |
That's not to say that Sony being involved with From Software's new JRPG won't help it - I am sure it'll be a great game. However, if we were placing bets, I think a major Tri-Ace effort backed by Square Enix and Microsoft coffers may stand a better chance. But time will tell.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
