I don't think I've ever heard a person complain about the D-pad on the Dualshock before. The placement of the analogues, the lack of triggers and the weight of the Sixaxis are the usual points of contest.

In my opinion the split-up buttons of the Dualshock make it more accessible and accurate for the fingertips, and helps distinguish each direction clearly. It feels more arkward to the touch directing with what is essentially one big button on the Saturn controller (Although I like the curves).

that if you want to go forward, left, right or back.

Try pulling off a dragon punch or a Zangiefs or Guiles super move in street fighter. You will understand why dual shock is horrible.

I paid over 140 dollars for the right adapters to be able to play 2d xbox live arcade games with a saturn pad on the xbox 360. And it was worth every penny... thanks to the fact that console makers (all 3) don't know how to make proper Dpads anymore.
