The developers are on record(I'll hunt for the link later) saying that they started off making the game similar to the first two but that it just didn't feel right, hence the new approach.  At least they have the stones to know when they're making a bad game and rework it, rather than just release shit.  If only more developers took this approach...

 

Well, I think it's more. The Microsoft guys came and told them to make a game that caters to the Xbox and not the Wii demographics...

 

I, for one, am absolutely not interested in the game. I'll get it anyway because I'm a huge Banjo fan and happen to own a 360 but I am not hoping for much.
