thank you, a lot of democrats voted against it as well.

Not really... I mean honestly the Democrats pulled even more then I thought they would... and more then they said they would.
The Republicans wouldn't of needed to hit that 100 person vote. Pelosi blinked when she played that bluff. (She said that the House democrats would refuse to take this unpopular plunge alone and would not pass the measure unless they got 100 republicans to go with them. She made it sound like they had the votes to pass it yet wouldn't.)
I honestly suspected the democrats would have a number of their at risk senators hold back on voting for this "just in case"since it's so unliked. She basically said as much...
Which granted may be still the case, i watched it live on my lunchbreak and didn't see who voted yes and no... and even if that was why i doubt it was for political reasons of the democrats but instead of the individual person since it seems that pelosi knowing they'd come up short ordered the dems to make up the difference.
The sad thing is. The Republicans were still short a good 13 or so members they needed.
It just shows how much of a crappy president you were when you can't even get half of your own party behind you.
The claim is they fell about 15 short because of the speach pelosi made blaming soley the Bush Adminstration... apparently that made a few reluctant republicans that were going to take one for the team bitter.
In reality it was a very crass speach she made but I doubt they really were that thin skinned that it made a difference.
More likely it was just politically motivated on this end as well.
After all "He supported the Bush economic policies that got us in this mess AND the bailout to said wallstreet billionaires." is quite the powerful attack ad.
