I got 360 version, it's enjoyable. I don't think it was really horrible to the point of not wanting to finish it. The story is great, there are enough things for you to do and play around with to keep thing interesting.
I agree that certain level designs are really terrible. The first junkyard mini-boss fight was one of them. I died there so many times until I figure out that you were suppose to move the part of the space ship before you jump. (Did you do that?) The final level was also frustrating to play.
It's certainly not AAA game but I don't think it was as bad as critic complain. It was fun enough for me to replay again on harder level just to unlock more stuff.
