It's a good idea but so many cable and satellite companies just throw DVR's at you now as part of the basic service and part of the actual cable box that I really don't think this is going to do too well.
For I believe like $5 extra a month I have an HD DVR that can record 2 shows at once while I'm watching something else and now they even have ones that can record 3 or more shows at once. Sure, I'm paying $5 a month to rent their DVR but it's part of my cable box and I don't have to leave my PS3 on so it's quite nice.
