Personally I believe any type of afterlife at all would be bad, because it would dictate how I live this life. I'd be too busy trying to be reincarnated upwards until I could reach enlightenment, or too busy trying to reach heaven and avoid hell. I'd prefer there be no afterlife so I can really take care of business in this one, with all my living homies.
If I had to pick an afterlife though, I'd want to become a ghost with unlimited powers on earth, so I could continue to watch human history, and just kinda party and bone chicks everywhere like I was Zeus. I'd be like the evil god in the CGI Ninja Turtles movie who turned out to have been every important world leader.
Maybe at each death, your consciousness breaks off into its own dream state, where it comes back as a God, effectively creating an alternate universe for every individual ghost/G-d. I'd hope there was more than one ghost/G-d fucking with the humans though. It would be like a cross between Greek mythology and an MMORPG.
